Royal Enfield Scrambler Trails 350

Royal Enfield’s Classic 350 and Classic 500 have been wildly successful in the market, both Indian and global. These models have also spawned a number of different versions where the underpinnings of the bike remains the same. In the similar series of events, now the retro bike maker has launched their Classic 350 Trails and Classis 500 Trails in India. The prices for both the bikes are Rs. 1.62 lakhs and Rs. 2.07 lakhs (all prices ex-showroom, Delhi). The new versions of the two motorcycles come with a lot of changes and although they are based on the Classic series of the company, the Trials version of the bikes have a pretty distinct look as compared to the Classic models. Royal Enfield Trials get a scrambler styling and hence these bikes are now the most affordable scramblers in the Indian market as of now.

As already mentioned, Trials version of the bike com with the same engine and chassis as the RE Classics, but they are quite versatile and capable. Staying true to their legacy the new Trials version of Res can handle the bad roads very easily. The new versions of the bike are not merely an aesthetic makeover, but they are equipped with a lot of changes. The Trials version has a high-mount exhaust setup that arms it with the ability to enter slightly deeper waters during long-distance tours or off-roading.

The next change is the high-set handle of the bike, these offer the rider a more relaxed position so as to minimize the exhaustion on long rides. In true scrambler fashion, the 350 Trails and 500 Trails come with a single seat and metal carrier behind it as standard. This is also a handy change for long-distance tourers as the metal carrier in place of the pillion seat offers luggage storage space.

There are other changes on the bike that differentiate it from the Classic series as far as looks are concerned. These changes include use of accented metal parts all over the bike, and subtle tweaks here and there that make the bike more appealing to customers. Talking of the mechanics of the Trials 350 and Trials 500, they come equipped with a 346cc (19.8 Bhp-28 Nm) and 499cc (27.1 Bhp-41 Nm) engines respectively. The Trails version of the bike share the exact same mechanicals as the common Classic range of Royal Enfield. The two new models come with a 5-speed gearbox as standard. Talking of safety, Trials 500 comes with a dual-channel ABS and Trials 350 makes do with only a single-channel ABS mechanism.

Royal Enfield already offers a pretty similar version in the UK market that is also sold there under the Trials moniker, however Indian version is markedly different with a distinguished look. The company has already opened the bookings for the models at Rs 5,000. However, the company has still not clarified whether the parts from Trials series will be made available for the Royal Enfield Classic customers as official accessories.
