Royal Enfield recalls Bullet 350, Bullet 500 and Electra to address the problem caused by malfunctioning brake caliper bolt.

Indian retro bike maker Royal Enfield has issued a recall for their Bullet 350, Bullet 500 and Electra motorcycles in India. This has been done to address the problem that a malfunctioning brake caliper bolt was causing in the bikes, the company will now replace these bolts. The cost of replacement will be borne by the company and the customer will have to pay no extra charges whatsoever for the exercise. The motorcycles manufactured between 20 March 2019 and 30 April 2019 are the ones that have been recalled. The company has asked the owners of the bikes to get their rides fixed without any charge at the earliest possible hour.

The company has released an official statement regarding the recall of the bikes and the statement read,

This is because service investigations revealed that the torque maintained on brake caliper bolts, as supplied by the vendor, on a few of these motorcycles were not as per stringent Royal Enfield quality standards. Brake caliper bolt is an essential part of braking system securing the brake hose and brake caliper. This voluntary service action will be undertaken on close to 7,000 motorcycles that were retailed during the said period. All concerned customers are being called for a service intervention, and various stakeholders are being informed accordingly.

Bullet 350 and Electra are some of the most famous bikes sold by the company as they carry the true retro charm that the bike maker is known for. These models also bring in good sales numbers for the company and are one among the best-selling ranges of the bikes made by the company. Bullet 350 and Electra come equipped with a 346cc, UCE 4-stroke engine that is rated to deliver 19.8 Bhp and 28 Nm. The transmission duties are handled by a 5-speed manual gearbox. The unit construction engine on the Bullet models comes with a carburetor.

On the other hand, the Bullet 500 comes equipped with a 500 cc Unit Construction Engine that is rated to deliver 24 Bhp and 40.5 Nm. These bikes comes with a fuel injection engine and the transmission duties here are handled by a 5-speed manual gearbox. The prices for Bullet 350, Electra, and Bullet 500 are Rs. 1.21 lakhs, 1.35 lakhs and Rs. 1.88 lakhs respectively. Royal Enfield sells many other motorcycles in the market and these include Classic 350 and 500 (with many other sub-models), Royal Enfield Himalayan, as well as the recently introduced twin-cylinder Interceptor 650 and the Continental GT 650 bikes among others.
