Renault and Nissan plan to consolidate India platform strategy

The Renault-Nissan Alliance will now focus on two relatively low-cost platforms in India. The CMF-A (Kwid and Redigo) and CMF-A+ platforms will underpin future small and mid-size cars here, and the M0 (Duster) platform will cater to the larger products in both carmakers’ portfolio. The platform is currently used for the Lodgy, the Duster and the Terrano. In India, the upcoming Kicks crossover will also use the same platform.

The alliance also considered using the European-spec CMF-B platform, but it was rejected since it cost more than the M0. Lessons learnt on M0 were helpful to the CMF-A platform, which was specifically developed for markets like India.

Datsun will continue using the current low-cost V minus platform for its products - the Go Cross crossover is the next car to debut that’s built on this architecture.
