Renault Kiger is the third vehicle after Kwid and Triber to launch in India ahead of other countries

Renault Kiger has finally made its world premiere today in India before it goes on sale. The Kiger concept was unveiled last year in the Indian market as well and now the production ready version has debuted. It will be locally manufactured at the company's facility in Chennai while being the third vehicle after Kwid and Triber to launch in India ahead of other countries. Renault Kiger will be the French automaker's entry in the sub 4-meter SUV segment which already comprises of Maruti Vitara Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Tata Nexon and Ford EcoSport.




Underpinning the same architecture as the Triber MPV, Renault Kiger flaunts a sculpted bonnet, LED headlamps with LED DRLs and a huge 'wing' front grille. The SUV gets pronounced shoulder lines, flared wheel arches and roof rails to accentuate the sportiness. Boasting of a ground clearance on 205mm, it rides on 16-inch black diamond cut alloy wheels with a boot capacity of 405 litres. The rear profile features a floating roof with steep-sloping rear window, spoiler and double C-shaped LED tail-lamps. Renault Kiger will come in six paint shades: Ice Cool White, Planet Grey, Moonlight Grey, Mahogany Brown, Caspian Blue, Radiant Red with Mystery Black Roof. All trim-levels will include a two-tone option. However, the Radiant Red, being an exclusive colour, will only be available as a top variant under two-tone colour scheme.

As for features, Renault Kiger will be equipped with 7-inch Multi-Skin Reconfigurable TFT instrument cluster, Multi drive modes (Normal, Sport & Eco), Automatic air-conditioning Centre armrest with cup-holders, PM2.5 Clean Air Filter, White ambient lighting, Arkamys 3D Sound system with eight speakers, Steering wheel mounted audio and phone controls, Hands-free card and 8-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto & Voice Commands. As far as safety features are concerned, Renault Kiger will have 4-airbags, seat belt reminder alert, ABS, three-point seatbelts for front and rear seats, and reverse parking camera. The fuel tank capacity is pegged at 40 litres.




Mechanically, Renault Kiger will be offered with four engine-transmission configurations. The base variants will be powered with a naturally aspirated 1.0L ENERGY petrol engine which develops top power of 71bhp and peak torque of 96Nm. It can be availed with either a 5-speed manual or the 5-speed EASY-R AMT gearbox. The high-end variants will draw power from the 1.0L three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine which will generate maximum power output of 99bhp and peak torque of 160Nm while delivering a best-in-segment mileage of 20kmpl. It will be linked to a 5-speed manual transmission as standard while an X-TRONIC CVT automatic transmission will also be available as option.
