Renault puts out poster for upcoming launch of MPV Triber in India.

We have already informed you about French automaker Renault’s decision to launch an MPV in the Indian market. Now the company has put out a poster for its upcoming launch in the Indian market. It can only be the new MPV that the company has been testing in India since quite some time now. The new upcoming MPV will be built on the brand’s CMF-A platform, the same platform that is also found on their small hatchback Kwid. As the teaser poster states, the new affordable MPV will be named Triber. The French company may launch this people mover in India in the second half of the current year. After this upcoming teaser, one can expect to see more such teaser reveals in the upcoming days. Also, with the teaser already in front us, there is only some time before one gets to know more details of the upcoming MPV.

The mention of “ultra modular” on the teaser poster for Triber confirms that the upcoming MPV will indeed be based on the Renault Kwid’s CMF-A  platform. CMF-A (common module family-A) is the affordable platform that the French company came up with for developing markets. One can already find Renault Kwid and Datsun RediGo in the Indian market that are based on the same platform. The company had developed this re-sizeable platform with the intention of making more cars with the same underpinnings in the future and now with the teaser reveal for Triber, one can comfortably say that the upcoming MPV will be the third car to use the CMF-A platform.

Renault Triber will probably be under 4 meters in length so that it can benefit from the government’s tax regime. This could mean that the upcoming Triber will be a value for money offering in the segment, just like the Datsun Go+ stationwagon, with a 5+2 seating pattern. However, unlike the Datsun Go+, the Renault Triber will offer more space in the third row. The super spacious in the teaser definitely hints at that.

The usage of ‘India’s first’ in the teaser trailer hints at the fact that the upcoming Triber will be a segment starter as there is no proper spacious MPV under 4 meters in India. Datsun GO+ is present as an option but it is not a spacious offering with the rear row seats not offering enough space to seat adults.

Renault has still not disclosed the engine details of the Triber, although the car has been spotted during testing many times in India. However, there are rumors on the internet that indicate that the new MPV from French automaker could come only with a petrol engine. Renault could choose either the its Kwid’s 1.0-litre petrol engine or partner Nissan Micra’s 1.2-litre petrol mill. The AMT version of this upcoming MPV has also been spotted testing, therefore an AMT is sure to be offered with the car along with a manual gearbox.
