The one-off 993 Turbo was built using an original bodyshell but with all-new parts from the company’s Porsche Classic division. The car will be shown in the flesh at the Porsche Rennsport Reunion at Laguna Seca circuit in California next month.
Project Gold – officially a 993-generation 911 Turbo S badged ‘Classic Series’ – is a one-off, track-only restomod. Around 6500 parts were added, including those used to build its 444bhp twin-turbo 3.6-litre flat-six engine, four-wheel drive system and gearbox.
The car pays homage to the far more recent 911 Turbo S Exclusive Series. The car can hit 100kph in a time of 3.7sec. The car’s chassis number is from the last 993 Turbo, which was produced in 1998.
Only 345 Turbo Ss were originally produced, so Project Gold gets the number 346. The car will be sold at an auction by RM Sotheby’s in October.
The brand is expected to continue the new discount offers until the end of this month. ...
