Legendary German maker Porsche has launched the updated eighth generation model of the 911 sportscar in India. The new version of iconic 911 will be offered in two trims -- Carrera S and Carrera S Cabriolet. While the Carrera S is the coupe version of 911, the Carrera S Cabriolet is the convertible version of 911 and the two trims will cost the owners Rs. 1.82 crore (ex-showroom) and Rs. 1.99 crore (ex-showroom) respectively. The bookings for the newly launched model are already underway and the customers will begin receiving their cars from the latter half of 2019.

The company claims that the new versions of 911 are better than the last model in every aspect and it appears to be true as the enthusiasts all over the world appreciated the cars when they were launched globally some weeks ago. The classic and iconic silhouette of the new 911s remains the same, however there are a lot of changes in design of the new cars. The new tweaks to the design are aimed at giving the latest models a fresher look. Talking of the changes on the design, the bonnet has grown in length and has sharper creases that lend the new Porsche its more aggressive look.

The front bumper of the new 911 now hosts LED lights that also work as indicators. Coming to the sides, one finds that the doors on the new 911s are now flush and are electronically operated. The rear bumper houses a long single unit LED tail light, something that reminds one of the Porsche Cayenne. The interiors have received a major overhaul and the multi-function steering wheel comes with a lot of controls. In a throwback to the legacy of 911, the rev counter is still analogue. There are a lot of gadgets in the cabin of the new 911, still the functional appeal is present and the cabin does not looks cluttered. There is also an 11-inch touchscreen infotainment system that comes with Porsche Communication Management as standard on both variants.

The latest Porsche 911 comes with a new platform structure that aims the weight distribution of the car with a generous use of aluminum in the rear section of the chassis. The German maker has also equipped the coupe version with rear wheel steering that improves the handling of the car. The technical specs of the car state that the latest 911s come with a 3L, flat 6-cylinder twin-turbocharged petrol engine rated to deliver 444 Bhp and 530 Nm. The engine is mated to a 8-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. The powerhouse of an engine can propel the new 911s from a naught to 100 kmph in mere 3.7 seconds and the Sports Chrono package on offer shaves the time to 3.5 seconds! The top speed is rated at 308 kmph. The newer versions of 911s take on the Mercedes AMG GT and Audi R8 in the market.
