Ola Electric Scooter will go on sale in the Indian market later this month

Ola had opened the bookings for its electric scooter on July 15, 2021. Interested buyers can book the electric scooter at a token amount of Rs 499 via olaelectric.com or at the Ola app. To everyone’s amazement, the electric scooter crossed the 1 lakh booking mark within the first 24 hours. This has further made it the most pre-booked scooter in the world. Furthermore, it is expected to be launched by the end of this month in India. As for the price, it is likely to fall below Rs 1 lakh (ex-showroom).

Moving on, the Ola electric scooter was spotted in a different color scheme a few days back. As per a government document, Ola has registered the model names in India. The electric scooter might be called the ‘Series S’. Besides this, the company has also registered, ‘S1’ and ‘S1 Pro’, which might be the name of the variants of the upcoming electric scooter. Since we do not have a lot of information regarding the electric vehicle, we will not be able to talk about the difference between the two variants. Feature-wise, the new Ola electric scooter will come with a digital instrument cluster, keyless app-based access, disc brakes, alloy wheels, telescopic front suspension, and cloud connectivity, among many others.

“I am thrilled by the tremendous response from customers across India for our first electric vehicle. The unprecedented demand is a clear indicator of shifting consumer preferences to EVs. This is a huge step forward in our mission to transition the world to sustainable mobility. I thank all the consumers who have booked the Ola Scooter and have joined the EV revolution. This is only the beginning!” as commented by Bhavish Aggarwal, Chairman and Group CEO, Ola.

Besides these, we can expect the scooter to come with a range of 140-150 km on a single charge. While the top speed is likely to be around 100 kmph. It will be a made-in-India scooter for the world. Also, the electric scooter will be manufactured at Ola’s Future factory in Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu. This particular factory has been established with an investment of nearly Rs 2400 Crores and it will generate around 10,000 jobs. Apart from being sold in the Indian market, it will also be exported to the global market.
