Maruti Suzuki discontinued its one of the most loved and trusted workhorse Omni in April 2019 in the Indian market. The MUV played a tumultuous innings of nearly three and a half decades in the country as it was firstly introduced in 1984. Now, automotive designer Shashank Shekhar has digitally reimagined the futuristic next-gen Omni and needless to say, it appears breathtakingly stunning! For those asking, Maruti Suzuki discontinued the Omni last year as it didn't intend to update the MUV to the stricter safety norms due to high costs involved.

It would not be an understatement to term the Omni as an 'icon' which played multiple roles of school van and ambulance. In fact, it was often shown as the favourite vehicle of dreadful kidnappers in Bollywood flicks. So much so that, at one point people - predominantly kids - started calling it "the kidnapping van". Coming back to the next-gen Maruti Omni created by Shashank, it took him around three months to ideate, design and develop this project. The front fascia flaunts rectangular headlamps with C-shaped LED DRLs while the Maruti Suzuki logo is positioned at the centre. There is no front grille practically ala Tesla cars while the front bumper houses the sleek fog lamp units.

The next-gen Maruti Omni has been presented in three dual tone paint schemes: White & Black, Red & Black and Yellow & Black. In addition, it has been reimagined in two single tone color options as well in the form of Blue and Black. The designer has not released any image of the interior cabin. However, we believe that whenever Maruti decides to bring back the Omni, it will come loaded with several premium features. It could be sold via the NEXA showrooms while positioned between the Eeco and Ertiga as a premium yet affordable 7-seater MUV. Mechanically, it might use the 1.0L 3-cylinder petrol engine which we have already seen with Celerio and Wagon R. In fact, there could also be a factory-fitted CNG variant. The transmission choices could be a 5-speed manual and AMT units.
