New Yaris Cheaper Than Honda City

Toyota Kirloskar Motors Limited (TKML) has joined in the festive launch blitzkrieg in India by launching the 2019 Yaris C-Segment sedan. The car gets a big price cut, making it a lot cheaper than the Honda City. Ex-showroom prices of the 2019 start from Rs. 8.65 lakhs, making the car cheaper by about Rs. 62,000. To arrive at the lower price tag, Toyota has deleted some features. Called the J(Optional) trim, the new variant is also available with a CVT automatic gearbox. The CVT equipped variant costs Rs. 9.35 lakhs, which again makes the Yaris Automatic a lot cheaper than its prime competitor – the Honda City, whose CVT trim starts from Rs. 11.86 lakhs. The base variant of the Honda City Manual Petrol is also pricier than the Yaris J(Optional) trim by Rs. 1.16 lakhs. The Yaris grade- V Optional, which offers a New Dual-Tone & Diamond Cut Alloy Wheels, is available at Rs. 11,97,000 in the Manual Transmission (MT) and Rs. 13,17,000 in the Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT), same price across India

Key new bits on the 2019 Yaris include diamond cut alloy wheels, a two-tone paint scheme, gloss black finish for the wing mirrors, art leather interiors and leather wrapped steering and gear knob. The car is sold in 6 colors: Wildfire Red, Phantom Brown, Pearl White, Super White, Silver & Grey. Bookings for the 2019 Yaris sedan are open across all Toyota dealerships in India, and deliveries will commence shortly. The car is aimed at those who want a durable, comfortable, fuss free C-Segment sedan that also gets an array of safety features on the higher trims. In fact, the higher variants of the Yaris continue to offer segment leading safety features on both the manual and automatic trims. The mechanicals remain unchanged. The car is a petrol-only offering, and uses a 1.5 liter-4-cylinder motor with 106 Bhp-140 Nm. This engine is offered with 6 speed manual and CVT automatic gearboxes. The CVT gearbox gets 7 stepped shifts, which gives the driver more control on the car’s performance during quick overtaking maneuvers.

Talking of the various features that the 2019 Toyota Yaris’ top end trims come with, 7 airbags including a driver’s knee airbag, front parking sensors, ABS, EBD, reverse parking camera and sensors, cruise control, vehicle stability control, hill start assist and a tyre pressure monitoring system are key safety additions. Creature comforts include automatic climate control, automatic headlamps, rain sensing wipers, tinted glass, electrically foldable wing mirrors, 8-way adjustable powered driver’s seat, keyless entry and a touchscreen infotainment system that also gets gesture controls.

Speaking about the new car’s market introduction, N. Raja, the deputy managing director of TKML had this to say,
