Toyota revealed the version of the Camry that is bound for ASEAN markets. Unlike its predecessor, the latest Toyota will follow a more global design, and the ASEAN car will mirror its aggressive-looking North American sibling.
The company has tweaked the design a little - the ASEAN-spec car gets fog lamps set low in the front bumper, with headlamps losing the amber section that runs along the outside edges up front. At the back, there’s a rather staid bumper in comparison to its US sibling.
Both cabins are identical – there’s a V-shaped upper centre console, a large touchscreen infotainment system and a colour display in the instrument cluster. The differentiator is that this car is right-hand-drive.
The US car is powered by four- and six-cylinder petrol engines alongside a hybrid powertrain. Toyota, however, hasn’t released specs for this car yet. The blue halo around the badge, and a hybrid powertrain have been confirmed though.
The carmaker also showcased a sportier-looking TRD model with prominent sill extensions, a front splitter element, LED lights along the lower bumper edge, a blacked-out element under the V-shaped grille and sportier alloy wheels.
Toyota could launch the new Camry in ASEAN markets at the end of this year.
