Next-Gen Hyundai i20 spy shots leaked online; all set to launch next month

Hyundai Motor India is all set to launch the Next-Gen i20 in the country next month. The premium hatchback will soon be on display at authorised dealerships across India. However, some of the dealerships have already started accepting unofficial bookings. The premium hatchback has been seen doing test runs on the Indian roads on multiple occasions in the past. Recently, the model was spotted at a dealership which further confirms that some of the dealers have already started receiving the first batch of Next-Generation i20's. The spy shots have been leaked online ahead of the official launch.

From the latest spy shots, we can clearly see that the New i20 conforms to Hyundai’s latest design language. Upfront, it gets a hexagonal grille along with angular LED headlamps. On the sides, the car features 17-inch alloy wheels and ORVMs with LED indicators. At the rear, it features interconnected LED combination lights and a prominent black diffuser. Other design highlights include a dark fin antenna and rear wipers.

The cabin of the Next-Gen i20 gets a refreshed design and layout in comparison to the current-gen model. As per the spy shots, the model features a wide touchscreen infotainment system, steering mounted controls, low-mounted AC vents, a compact centre console with toggle switches, and a sunroof. It further caters AC vents and charging sockets for the rear passengers. The top-spec variants will offer a TFT instrument panel. As for safety equipment, the model is likely to come equipped with multiple airbags, ABS with EBD, reverse parking camera among many others.

Under the bonnet, the latest generation Hyundai i20 will retain the current-gen model’s engine options. Thus the petrol variants will be powered by a 1.2-litre Kappa unit that churns out 82 bhp power and 114 Nm torque. This engine will be available with both MT and CVT transmissions. There will also be a more powerful 1.0-litre turbocharged direct-injection mill on offer. It will provide iMT and DCT transmission options and will generate a maximum power of 120 bhp. While a 1.5-litre CRDi unit will develop 99 bhp power and 240 Nm torque while being mated to a manual gearbox.

All-New Hyundai i20 will be offered in a total of five trims namely Era, Sports, Magna, Asta, and Asta (O). Once launched, we can expect the premium hatchback to rival against the likes of Tata Altroz, Honda Jazz, and VW Polo in its segment.
