The New Honda HR-V (Vezel) has been unveiled in Japan ahead of its official launch which is set to take place later this year. The automaker has yet not confirmed anything about its India launch. The Third-Gen SUV comes with significant cosmetic and feature upgrades along with a strong hybrid system.
In terms of design, the 2021 Honda HR-V gets a coupe-like stance. Upfront, it features a pronounced grille flanked by sleek LED headlamps and LED DRLs. It misses out the thick band of chrome on the front fascia that was present in the outgoing model. In addition, the SUV gets a chiseled bonnet, skid plate, aggressive front bumper with mesh intake, and wide-set fog lamps. On the sides, the new HR-V features flared wheel arches shod with dual-tone machine-cut alloy wheels, an angular C-pillar with rear door handles, dual-tone ORVMs with turn indicators, and side body cladding. We could also see a prominent shoulder line that runs through the length of the vehicle from the headlamps to the taillights. The rear end boasts of new tail-lamps with an LED light bar, a roof-mounted spoiler, and a faux skid plate.
Moving into the cabin, the dashboard of the 2021 HR-V features a layered design. The leather inserts run across the dashboard thus dividing it into two parts. Further, we could see a free-standing central touchscreen unit compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Feature highlights include a 7-inch TFT screen, wireless charging, Honda Connect, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated leather seats, rear AC vents, remote boot opening, Honda sensing technology, among others. The SUV gets the faux vents that run along the passenger side of the dashboard. Besides these, there is a rotary control that is basically used to control the air flow via the side vents on either corner of the dashboard.
The safety kit on the 2021 HR-V consists of a misstep collision mitigation system, pedestrian detection, lane hold assist, adaptive cruise control, and traffic sign recognition.
Performance-wise, the New Honda HR-V will be offered with a conventional petrol unit that will be powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine mated to a CVT gearbox. There will also be a dual-motor petrol-electric hybrid unit that pairs the internal combustion petrol engine with two electric motors and an on-board battery pack. Talking about the two electric motors, one is linked to the engine to generate electricity while the other is used to power the wheels. Furthermore, both the standard petrol and hybrid are offered in front and all-wheel-drive configurations.
