The latest iteration of the Honda CR-V, which was launched in India last year, has scored a safety rating of 5-Stars in the recently conducted crash test by the Global NCAP. With this, the CR-V now joins other Honda cars like the Jazz, Civic and the HR-V which have also scored similar 5-Star safety rating EURO NCAP.

The tests were conducted on the European spec Honda CR-V. It gets few additional safety features in comparison to the one being sold in India. These are part of Honda’s sensing suite which consists of active safety and driver assistive technology. The Honda CR-V is based on the new Honda ACE or Advanced Compatibility Engineering architecture that also underpins the new Civic. Safety features on the India-spec Honda CR-V include 6-airbags, anti-lock braking system, electronic brake force distribution, electronic stability program, traction control, reverse parking sensors and a rear-view camera.

The Honda CR-V retails in India in a total of three different variants, all of them being the top-spec trim with the only difference being the powertrain and drivetrain options. It gets a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder i-VTEC petrol engine mated to a CT transmission that develops 154 BHP of peak power and 189 Nm of peak torque while the diesel derivative of the Honda CR-V comes with a 1.6-litre engine mated to a 9-speed torque converter unit that generates 120 BHP along with 300 Nm of peak torque. It comes in 2WD as well as 4WD options.

The petrol 2WD variant is currently on sale at a price of Rs. 28.15 lakh while the diesel 2WD and 4WD retail at Rs. 30.65 lakh and Rs. 32.75 lakh, respectively (all prices, ex-showroom, India).
