Details regarding the platform, features and engine specifications of Maruti Vitara Brezza have been leaked

Maruti Suzuki has been rigorously working on the next-gen Vitara Brezza for quite sometime now. As per sources close to the development, the new-gen Maruti Vitara Brezza will be launched by the end of 2021 in the Indian market. We have received some new details regarding the platform, features and engine specifications of the upcoming SUV. For those asking, Maruti Vitara Brezza was first launched five years back in 2016 while it rivals the likes of Ford EcoSport, Tata Nexon, Kia Sonet and Hyundai Venue in India.

The second-gen Maruti Vitara Brezza will be based on the company's lightweight Heartect architecture which also underpins the Baleno. In addition, it has been learnt that the new SUV will come loaded with a few never-seen-before features like 6 airbags, connected car technology and a massive touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay & Android Auto. It has also been speculated that Maruti might equip the new-gen Vitara Brezza with a couple of premium features like wireless charging and sunroof. As for the styling, the brand is not expected to give the SUV a complete makeover as sources have told us that the upright stance and boxy design will be carried over from the current model while the bold front fascia will flaunt a few changes such as bluff nose and sharp-looking LEDs.

Mechanically, the current-gen Maruti Vitara Brezza is powered by a BS6 compliant 1.5L 4-cylinder petrol engine and the new-gen model is expected to retain it, albeit with slight changes in power and torque. The aforementioned engine presently delivers a top power of 104bhp and peak torque of 138Nm. It is linked to a 5-speed manual transmission as standard while a 4-speed AT unit is also available with the mild-hybrid version. The biggest news, however, is the replacement of the ongoing 4-speed automatic gearbox with a new 6-speed torque converter automatic unit. The sources have further revealed that Maruti is contemplating introduction of a CNG variant of the SUV for the first time in the Indian market.
