New-gen Hyundai i20 will be launched during the festive season period around October 2020 in India

Hyundai Motor India, riding high on the success of the Creta compact SUV, launched in March this year, has yet another product up its sleeves. This time around it is not an SUV but a premium hatchback. We are talking about none other than the new-gen Hyundai i20 that was recently spied in the city of Hyderabad.

According to these latest spy images, the hatchback which was under camouflage did reveal a few details. The one seen here portrayed a white colour while equipped with 15-inch four spoke alloy wheels, LED headlights and a shark fin antenna. As far as the interior features are concerned, then like any other current Hyundai model, the next generation i20 will come fully loaded with features. These could include elements like a digital instrument cluster, 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Bose music system, Bluelink Connectivity, ambient lighting among many others.

Currently, the second-gen model and the upcoming third-gen Hyundai i20 will compete against the likes of Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Toyota Glanza, Volkswagen Polo, Tata Altroz and Honda Jazz facelift in the premium hatchback segment. Talking about the current model, then the Elite i20 is only available with a BS6 petrol engine. It comes equipped with a 1.2 litre Kappa Na engine that delivers a power output of 82 bhp with 114 Nm of peak torque while the transmission duty is handled by a 5-speed gearbox. Prices for Hyundai Elite i20 begin at Rs 6.50 Lakhs (ex-showroom). As far as the new generation goes, then the i20 could feature 3 engine options comprising of 2 petrol units and 1 diesel something like what we see on the Hyundai Venue. Though the details still remain very sketchy.
