Hyundai recently launched the much-anticipated Next-Gen i20 in the country. The company is believed to have been working on the latest generation of the Hyundai i20 Active but earlier this year, the work on the rugged version of the premium hatchback was stopped all of a sudden.There is no word as to why? However SRK designs have come up with a rendering that demonstrates what the i20 Active could look like. These renders have been leaked online.

As per the rendered images, the profile of the i20 Active remains identical to the standard i20. However, the rendered model gets subtle design modifications so as to make it look more like a crossover. Upfront, both the grille and bumper have been modified. The redesigned fog lamp housing gives a rugged look to the vehicle from the front. Furthermore, its side skirts have also been modified. The wheel arches get additional cladding along with a new set of dual-tone alloys.

Talking about the recently launched 2020 Hyundai i20, it is offered in four grades namely Magna, Sportz, Asta, and Asta(O). The All-New Hyundai i20 establishes a benchmark in the premium hatchback segment with its sleek style and segment-first features. The hatchback is inspired by the Hyundai Global Design Philosophy - ‘Sensuous Sportiness’.

Under the bonnet, the 2020 Hyundai i20 gets three engine options - a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated Kappa petrol engine, a 1.0-litre turbocharged GDi petrol unit and a 1.5-litre U2 CRDi diesel mill. The 1.2-litre petrol unit is mated to a 5-speed manual and iVT gearboxes. While the powerful 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol motor is offered with a 7-speed DCT and 6-speed iMT transmission options. As for the 1.5-litre diesel engine, it is linked to a 6-speed manual gearbox.

The 2020 Hyundai i20 comes loaded with premium features and hence, it is priced from Rs 6.79 lakhs (ex-showroom). If Hyundai ever thinks of bringing the i20 Active to the Indian market, we can expect it to cost Rs 50,000 more than the standard i20.
