New Datsun Redi-GO

Indian automotive industry transition from BS4 to stringent BS6 Emission Norms is taking place in the span of just 3 years. Most of the manufacturing companies are launching BS6 vehicles in the Indian market while offering huge discounts on their BS4 stocks. Automotive companies are launching vehicles on their digital platforms and accepting online bookings for the new BS6 vehicles. Nissan in a surprising development hasn’t launched any BS6 vehicles in the Indian market so far. It also discontinued a series of models like the Micra, Micra Active, Sunny, and Terrano. Now Nissan will be bringing the first BS6 compliant vehicle with the expected launch of the New BS6 Datsun Redi-GO Facelift in India.  The updated Datsun Redi-GO will come with new styling and engine upgrades. Looking back at the BS4 Datsun Redi-GO, it was priced between Rs 2.80 lakhs to Rs 4.37 lakhs (ex-showroom), Delhi. The 2020 Datsun Redi-GO Facelift will come with a price hike around Rs 10,000 to Rs 20,000. The entry level hatcback will compete against the likes of Maruti Suzuki S-Presso and Renault Kwid in the Indian Market.

Nissan Motor India Private Limited released teaser images of the hatchback. So what does the teaser images tell us? The exterior looks bolder than ever. 2020 Datsun Redi-GO  Facelift comes with a revamped front fascia with a new grille housing the Datsun badge. The headlamps are new with L-shaped LED DRLs placed right below. It is expected to come with a new wheel design but without the alloy wheels. The front bumper is reworked while the rear spoiler gives the vehicle a sporty look.

Interior details have not been revealed but we can expect some feature additions like a touchscreen system as seen in Kwid and an updated dashboard in the top-end variant of Datsun Redi-GO facelift. 

Nissan Datsun Redi-GO

BS4 Redi-GO was offered in the Indian market with 2 powertrain options - 800cc and 1000cc petrol engines. The 800cc petrol unit generated 53 bhp of maximum power and 72 Nm of peak torque while 1000cc petrol engine churned out 67 bhp of power with 91 Nm torque. The Facelift Redi-GO will come with the same engine options but they will now be BS6 compliant. The transmission would comprise of  a 5-speed manual gearbox available with both engines however there will also be a 5-speed AMT on offer in the 1000cc variant of Redi-GO facelift.

The launch date of 2020 Datsun Redi-GO Facelift has not been announced by the company, though we can expect it to arrive in the Indian market ahead of the festive period.
