The new BMW X6 will be offered with a petrol engine; will be brought to India as a CBU unit under new import rules.

BMW India is all set to launch the Third-Generation X6 in India on June 11, 2020. The company has officially released a teaser image of the Coupe on its Instagram handle. Bookings for the model had already begun in January 2020. The BMW X6 made its global debut in 2019. It will be brought to India as a CBU unit under the new import rules. The SUV Coupe was expected to launch earlier but due to coronavirus lockdown, it got delayed. 

The new BMW X6 will be offered in two trim levels namely xLine and M Sport. The front fascia of the xLine variant gets a black cladding and fender at the rear end. It also sports more chrome elements. The M Sport variant gets gloss black bits instead of chrome. It features a different alloy wheel design. The previous-gen X6 was on sale in India in the xDrive35i M Sport form and was priced at Rs 92.20 lakhs (ex-showroom), India. The new X6 is likely to be priced at Rs 1 crore (ex-showroom). 

The new generation looks more aggressive as compared to its predecessor. However, the overall silhouette of the Coupe-SUV has been retained. In terms of design, the SUV-Coupe features BMW’s double kidney grille with vertical slats finished in chrome and  LED headlights with LED DRLs. At the rear end, it gets reshaped taillights and dual exhausts.

The interior boasts of Vernasca leather upholstery. Other highlighted features include power-operated seats with massage function, four-zone climate control, panoramic sunroof, gear lever finished in glass, and a premium audio system from Bowers and Wilkins. It also gets a high-definition touchscreen with BMW’s latest iDrive system for the infotainment and BMW’s dynamic damper control. In the international market, the new X6 is being offered with four engine options. The India-spec model is likely to be powered by a 3.0-litre, six-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that churns out 340 bhp power and 450 Nm torque. The motor sends power to all four wheels via an 8-speed automatic gearbox and BMW’s xDrive four-wheel-drive system.
