India is one of the biggest two-wheeler markets in the world. A major chunk of the population are buyers who prefer the budget-centric motorcycles. Due to this reason, motorcycle manufacturers have been manufacturing affordable yet sporty bikes in India. With the passage of time, even the most affordable bikes in India have now started to come up with features and design that were earlier restricted to the expensive lot. Keeping customer preference in mind, here is the list of the 'Top 5 Motorcycles that you can buy in India for less than Rs 50,000 (ex-showroom).
Bajaj upgraded the CT 100 to meet the BS6 Emission Norms. Being one of the most affordable motorcycle in India, the BS6 Bajaj CT 100 is priced at Rs 40,794 (ex-showroom). It gets a price hike of Rs 6,797 over its BS4 predecessor. It is powered by a 102 cc air-cooled motor that produces 7.9 bhp power @ 7500rpm and 8.34 Nm torque @ 5500rpm. The motor gets a unique electronic air-injection system and is mated to a four-speed manual gearbox. Suspension duties are taken care of by telescopic forks and dual Spring in Spring (SNS) shock absorbers. Braking setup includes 130mm front drum and 110mm rear drum as standard. It retains the same bodywork as its BS4 model. It gets blacked-out powertrain, suspension components, and alloy wheels.
TVS launched the Sport at Rs 44,835 (ex-showroom). It is powered by a 99.7cc motor that makes 7.8 bhp of power and 7.5 Nm of torque. TVS Sport engine comes mated to a four-speed manual gearbox. The suspension consists of telescopic forks and twin shock absorbers. Braking is via 130mm and 110mm drum brakes. It gets 5-spoke alloy wheels and an electric starter.
Honda CD110 Dream is India’s most affordable Honda motorcycle priced at Rs 48,858 (ex-showroom). It is powered by a 110cc single-cylinder unit that churns out 8.36 bhp of power and maximum torque of 8.63 Nm. The engine comes mated to a four-speed manual gearbox. The handling and ride quality of the motorcycle is impressive even with a basic set up of telescopic fork and simple hydraulic coil spring rear suspension. It gets a blacked-out powertrain and a grey treatment on the alloy wheels.
Bajaj Platina 100 BS6 was launched in January 2020 at Rs 47,264 (ex-showroom). It is available in two variants: kick start and electric start. It uses a 102cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine with an electronic carburettor that produces 7.9 bhp power and 8.34 Nm torque. The engine is mated to a 4-speed manual gearbox. Suspension duties are taken care of by a telescopic fork upfront and a Spring-N-Spring rear shock absorber. The motorcycle comes to a halt using a 130mm drum upfront and 110mm drum towards the rear with a standard. There is no front disc brake available on this motorcycle.
Bajaj CT 110 is a premium version of CT 100. The company’s entry-level premium commuter lineup is priced at Rs 46,413 (ex-showroom). It is powered by a 115cc engine that has been borrowed from Bajaj Discover 110. The engine churns out 8.4 bhp power and 9.8 Nm torque. It comes mated to a four-speed manual transmission. The suspension of the motorcycle comprises of conventional telescopic forks upfront along with twin spring shock absorbers at the rear. The all-black theme on the motorcycle gives a touch of sportiness to the overall aesthetics. It gets drum brakes at both ends. As for safety, the motorcycle gets an always ON headlamp with DRLs that offers enough illumination in the dark.
