Royal Enfield is an iconic brand in the world of motorcycles. Been in production for over a century now, the company continues to notch up sales year after year. It’s not just the new launches garnering attention, customized Royal Enfield bikes are getting a lot more traction in the market. We have covered plenty of interesting modifications on Royal Enfield bikes across the world. In India, it’s illegal to modify bike structure or colour due to the Motor Vehicle Act. To get a legal endorsement of the modified bike, the owners need to approach ARAI (Automotive Research Authority of India) and get a registration certificate from them. Police have already started cracking down on modified bikes without a registration certificate from an accredited organization.

Cyberabad Police recently apprehended individuals riding a modified Royal Enfield bike. Two bike riders were caught racing with their illegally modified bikes around the Chandanagar area. They had modified their bike exhausts leading to sound as well as air pollution. The cops issued challan and removed the silencers from the modified motorcycles. Till recently, the cops only resorted to fining the bikers but now, they are removing the modified parts from the motorcycle too.

During COVID-19 lockdown, motorists took advantage of the empty and deserted roads for racing purposes, leading to a crackdown by traffic police. Earlier, Cyberabd police were asking the riders to fix their rear and side-view mirrors to avoid accidents. Mirrors are important for motorcycles as it helps the riders to spot any oncoming vehicle and make corrections in their riding. Switching of lanes or taking a turn is easy if one has a rearview mirror on their bike.

Police are also raising awareness on the use of helmets by both the rider and pillion. Helmets give added protection in case of an accident and it’s mandatory for everyone to wear it. Police are advising women, children and elderly gentlemen to start practising the usage of helmets every time they step outside on motorcycles or scooters.

Motorists who are still using learner’s license have been fined by the police with several cases registered under various traffic acts against the repeated offenders. As per the law, anyone who holds a learner license needs to be accompanied by a person who holds a valid license. Police gave a strict warning to the public that anyone who is flouting the learner’s license laws will have their license impounded and forwarded to the Regional Transport Authority for cancellation of the same.
