With the compact SUV segment in India seeing an overload of options with arrival of SUVs like MG Hector and Kia Seltos recently, the focus is now about to shift to the mid-size SUV segment in the market. South Korean maker's Hyundai Creta has been the unchallenged king of the segment ever since its launch and other makers are eyeing the share of the pie of Creta's sales. Therefore, they are lining up launches of the segment and it is the customer who will be presented with a lot of options in the end. Therefore, let's take a look as to what cars the makers are planning to launch to challenge the Creta dominance in India.

Kia Seltos

Launch: 22nd August 2019

South Korean carmaker Kia is all geared up to launch their first car -- the Seltos SUV -- in the Indian market in a month's time on 22nd August. The bookings for the SUV have already been opened in an official capacity and the booking amount has been set at Rs. 25,000. Kia Seltos also comes with a bevy of unique features to boast of. Among the most unique feature is the presence of a high-end Bose tuned speaker setup that is also paired with the ambient mood lighting of the cabin. There is also a large 10.25 inch infotainment system present in the cabin that comes with support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Another unique feature of the Seltos will be presence of a Head-Up Display unit that will display vital information for the driver. The SUV will also come with 3 engine and 4 transmission options.

Honda HR-V

To Be Launched Around: August 2019

Honda is also all-set to join the mid-size SUV party in the Indian market as it will launch the long-anticipated HR-V in India later this year. The SUV has also started being tested on the Indian roads and it may come with two engine options in India, a petrol as well as a diesel engine option. The two engine options will also come paired with automatic and manual transmissions each. Honda HR-V is already sold in the global markets and the maker will launch the SUV here sometime in August.

Maruti Suzuki Vitara

To Be Launched Around: End of 2020

The largest automaker of the Indian market is all geared up to bring the Vitara back on the Indian roads once again. Recent spyshots have also come up that show the Vitara being tested in the country sans camouflage. The spyshots show the Vitara without any camouflage and grille and with temp number plates. There are hopes that the brand is testing the vehicle before it will be finally launched in the Indian market. Vitara comes with 3 engine options in the global market but the Indian specifications are still not known.

Skoda Kamiq

To Be Launched Around: 2020

Skoda is adopting a new strategy for the country's market and it has been named as India 2.0. Under this strategy, the brand will launch Kamiq in India. The new compact SUV from Skoda will challenge Hyundai Creta and Nissan Kicks in the Indian market. The brand will place it as a more premium option in the compact SUV segment. Kamiq will be built on the modified MQB platform that has been altered for developing markets such as Brazil and India. Expect Kamiq to be showcased in India at Auto Expo next year.

Mahindra Scorpio

To Be Launched Around: 2019

A full model change is in order for the most well-known SUV in the Indian market. Completely revamped exteriors and interiors are likely to be seen on new version of Scorpio. This SUV will likely to share engine and platform with the new model of Thar with the new engine likely to deliver around 140 Bhp. New model of Scorpio will also follow BNVSAP and BS-VI regulations.
