JSW MG Motor India has achieved the milestone of selling 20,000 units of MG Windsor EV in just 6 months, which is the fastest selling rate for an EV. MG Motor India has been relatively early in the adoption of electric vehicles in the Indian market.
Windsor is the latest addition to the brand's EV lineup. It is a stylish and spacious 5-seater electric crossover utility vehicle (CUV) sitting between the Comet EV and the ZS EV in terms of size and price.
This car was launched in late 2024 and is an interesting electric vehicle with a focus on design, space, and comfort. It offers a real-world range of around 260 to 280 km per full charge.
The Windsor's success can be attributed to its unique BaaS model, affordable initial cost, practical design, and feature-packed interior. The car has Tata Nexon EV, Mahindra XUV400, and the Tata Curvv EV as competitors.
The car comes in three variants of Excite (base), Exclusive, and Essence (top). The price starts at Rs. 13,99,800 lacs ( ex-showroom) for the Excite variant and ends at Rs. 15,99,800 lacs for the top trim.

MG likes to call this car an "Intelligent CUV," which emphasizes its blend of crossover styling and smart features. It's designed as a family-oriented EV with a focus on rear passenger comfort. Its key attractive features for buyers include:
The Windsor has a 38 kWh lithium-ion battery pack that produces 134 bhp (100 kW) of power and 200 Nm of torque. It is a front-wheel drive with its motor mounted on the front axle.
The real-world range of the car is variable and is found to lie between 260 to 280 km in average driving conditions. The EV also supports fast DC charging and can go from 0 to 88% in around 55 minutes.
One more interesting thing here is its battery's lifetime warranty for the first owner. The warranty reverts to 8 years or 160,000 km for the second owner.
Five key reasons make the Windsor EV an attractive electric car option in the market. These reasons struck a chord with Indian buyers:
