MG Motor will enter the Indian market with the launch of the C-segment SUV.

MG Motor will enter the Indian market by the launching a C-segment SUV in the second quarter of 2019. The SUV will be an Indian specific model and to keep the prices low the vehicle will be made of seventy five percent localised components. Initially, the company will not focus on volumes but will increase production basis market response.

The MG Motor SUV will be offered with both petrol and diesel engines. The company has stated that their cars will have better features and technology than rivals. Moreover, they also stated that their vehicles will have a 5-star safety rating. SAIC is the parent of two passenger car brands – MG Motor and Roewe. The cars will be manufactured at the Halol plant which earlier belonged to General Motors.

The Halol plant has the capacity to produce 80,000 units annually. MG Motor will be starting off with 45 dealers and 100 touchpoints across India. The Halol facility is now being changed to incorporate a vendor park and vendors across the globe will be accommodated there. SAIC group will be figuring out the vendors, logistics etc. for MG Motor ahead of their launch in India.
