Chinese-owned British brand MG is all set to launch its first vehicle – Hector SUV -- in the Indian market this week. The upcoming Hector will be chock full of features and will challenge the likes of Tata Harrier and Mahindra XUV500 in the compact SUV segment. It was expected that the Chinese-owned British brand will stuff the Hector SUV with features to the brim and now that the company has presented the car’s features and exterior looks in an official capacity the expectations have been fulfilled. The package includes many segment firsts and segment leading points. However, amid the crowd of features that the Hector will come with, there are some that the future customers have not noticed properly. Not to say that these are minor features, but these are some of the most interesting features of the upcoming SUV. Therefore, in this article we have decided to take a look at these relatively lesser-known features of the upcoming Hector SUV.

Sunroof

Yes, despite the opposite weather conditions of a hot climate country like India’s, the demand for the sunroof in cars has been on the rise. Several aftermarket makers have also jumped on the trend and are offering solutions for models that do not come with the same. However, MG has read the customer demand splendidly and is offering a feature that until recently was only reserved for luxury cars in the Indian market. MG has gone an extra mile and is offering the biggest panoramic sunroof in the segment with their upcoming Hector. The dual tone panoramic sunroof will come with the top models of the upcoming SUV.

Recline Seats

Yet another feature that was in the past only found on luxury cars, the electronic recline seats at the rear is one more unique feature in the segment that MG Hector offers. The recline angle of the rear seats go up to 25 degrees. So say hello to comfier long rides and enhanced back support all at the touch of the button in MG Hector and yes, this is a standard feature across the trims of the SUV.

Ambient Lightning

Coming up next on the list is one more luxury feature that MG Hector will offer in the segment for the first time. Although aftermarket solution for ambient lighting is an option, having one staright out of the showroom is surely better. The ambient lighting of MG Hector offers 8 shades – Red, Pink, Blue, Yellow, Purple, Green, Orange, White. The ambient mood lighting will be available in three different locations of the car – door pads, footwell, and the central cup holder

Space and Boot

Upon launch, MG Hector will be the largest SUV in the segment. This means that the SUV offers oodles of space inside the cabin. Talking of dimensions, while Tata Harrier’s dimensions stand at 4,598×1,894×1,706 mm. MG Hector scores high with 4,655×1,835×1,760 mm. Hector also comes with larger wheelbase which means that the space inside the cabin is significantly great than the Tata Harrier. The large dimensions and the wheelbase also means that the MG Hector offers more boot space than Tata Harrier. While Hector comes with a boot space of 587 liters, Harrier only offers 425 liters of boot space.

Powered Tailgate and 360-Degree Camera

Apart from several segment leading features, MG Hector also comes with a power tail gate, a feature that is only seen on expensive cars. The power tail gate will surely make the lives on many users a lot easier and is a nice feature to have. The button operation of the tailgate in MG Hector will surely make many lives easier.
