After a series of leaks, unveil, and test drives, Chinese-owned British brand MG Motors has finally marked its entry in the Indian market as the brand launched their first SUV – Hector – in India. Prices for the MG Hector start at Rs. 12.18 lakhs, ex-showroom Delhi. This is a very disruptive price by the brand as this figure undercuts the current segment leader and talk-of-the-town -- Tata Harrier. With the recent hike in prices for Harrier, the difference gets even stark as the entry level price for the Harrier is now Rs 12.99 lakhs, ex-showroom. However, the price for the MG Hector stated above is for the petrol model and the diesel model of the Hector comes with a starting price of Rs 13.18 lakhs.

As is the case with Tata Harrier, the base model of the MG Hector is also loaded with features like dual front airbags, ABS + EBD, reverse parking sensors, Electronic Stability Control, traction control and hill-hold control. In addition, the top model of MG Hector also comes with several segment leading features like panoramic sunroof, heated ORVMs, rain-sensing wipers, powered tailgate, a 360-degree surround view camera, and 6-airbag system.
MG Hector will come with an inbuilt Airtel eSIM with the upcoming SUV ready to adopt the 5G technology. This extremely advanced feature will equip the MG Hector to get updated via the eSim, just like the technology used in the smartphones. iSmart technology will be a standard feature of all the upcoming MG cars in the future. The upcoming MG Hector will also be equipped with a 10.8-inch portrait-oriented infotainment system featuring a few pre-installed apps and a 7 inch driver LCD display . Apart from all this the MG Hector also offers Artificial Intelligence enabled voice commands for the user.
As far as the engine options for the MG Hector are concerned, the upcoming Chinese owned British brand SUV will come equipped with two engine options. The first will be a 1.5L litre turbocharged petrol and the other a 2L Fiat Multijet turbocharged diesel, the latter being the same one found on Compass and Harrier. The outputs for petrol engine will be 143 Bhp-250 Nm whereas the diesel engine is supposed to produce 170 Bhp of power and 350 Nm. MG will also offer a 48V hybrid system as an optional feature with the petrol variants. Also, the petrol variants also get 7-speed Dual Clutch Transmission as an option.
