MG Hector is presently available with a 6-speed manual and a DCT automatic gearbox. According to MG dealers, the CVT variants will be sold alongside the DCT and manual trims. Some dealers, on the condition of anonymity, further elaborated that the company will market CVT variants as city-friendly due to their higher mileage while the DCT variants will be aimed at buyers who are looking for highway driving as it could be jerky during thick city traffic at lower speeds. Mechanically, the 2021 MG Hector CVT will be powered by the same 1.5litre turbocharged petrol engine. It will be the first vehicle in its segment to offer two automatic gearbox options.
