MG Motor India finally rolled out its fourth product offering Gloster SUV in the Indian market. The price of the SUV is quite aggressive which in turn can drastically affect the sales numbers of its closest rivals Ford Endeavour and Toyota Fortuner. MG Gloster has been launched recently in the price bracket of Rs 28.98-35.38 Lakhs (ex-showroom). Ford Endeavour, on the other hand, falls in the price bracket of Rs 29.99-35.10 Lakhs (ex-showroom). Last but not the least, Toyota Fortuner’s price starts at Rs 28.66 Lakhs (petrol) and goes as high as Rs 34.43 lakhs (Both prices, ex-showroom).

MG Gloster gets two engine options. The Super and Smart trims are powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine that churns out 160 bhp power and 375 Nm peak torque. The engine is linked to an 8-speed automatic gearbox. The higher trims - Sharp and Savvy are powered by a 2.0-litre twin-turbocharged diesel engine that bells out 215 bhp power and 480 Nm torque. The engine here is mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox. Ford Endeavour draws its power from a 2.0-litre EcoBlue turbo-diesel engine. The engine delivers 168 bhp power and 420 Nm torque while being mated to a 10-speed automatic gearbox.
Among the three SUVs, Toyota Fortuner is the only one that gets a petrol engine along with a diesel mill. The SUV is powered by a 2.7-litre in-line petrol unit that generates 166 bhp power and 245 Nm torque. The engine comes linked to a 5-speed manual gearbox along with 6-speed automatic gearbox as an option. There is also a 2.8-litre in-line diesel unit that bells out 177 bhp power. As for torque, it is 420 Nm while being mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox and 450 Nm while being linked to a 6-speed automatic transmission.

MG Gloster’s 2.0-litre turbo diesel engine delivers an ARAI certified mileage of around 12-13 kmpl. While the SUV’s 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel engine offers a mileage of around 8-10 kmpl (ARAI Certified). Ford Endeavour offers an ARAI certified mileage of 13.9 kmpl. Toyota Fortuner, on the other hand, delivers an ARAI certified mileage of 10.01kmpl with petrol and 15.04kmpl with diesel.
