MG Gloster spotted at selected dealerships, expect the premium SUV to be launched around the Diwali this year

MG Gloster was first showcased this year at the 2020 Auto Expo in the month of February. That said, in the past the iconic British automaker had released a teaser image of the much-hyped premium SUV on Youtube. Now, we have got for you snapshots of the Gloster arriving at selected dealerships across the country thanks to our friends at Team-BHP. With the SUV now being showcased at showrooms, we believe that the launch is around the corner. Festive season is preferably the best time for automobile launches in India and MG would be thinking on the same lines in regards to Gloster’s official launch. MG Motors India has not officially announced the booking amount but some dealerships are accepting pre-order for a token amount of Rs 50,000.

Essentially, MG Gloster is a rebadged version of the Maxus D90 SUV currently being sold in the international markets. The leaked images and teasers  give us a hints about the upcoming SUV's style and design. It will be over 5 metres in length and will competing against the likes of Ford Endeavour, Toyota Fortuner, Mahindra Alturas G4 among others in its segement. The key highlights of the exterior design is the enormous octagonal chrome grille, LED headlamps, dual-tone alloy wheels and split LED taillamps.

MG products launched in India so far have not disappointed in terms of tech features. Gloster's cabin layout is inspired from European cars with the transmission console quite similar to the one found in BMW X7. The Indian buyer can expect a touchscreen infotainment with MG Connectivity Technology, fully digital instrument panel, automatic climate control, ambient lighting among many others.

Currently, in foreign markets the Maxus D90 SUV offers 2.0-litre petrol and diesel engine options. Going by that, we to can expect the same powertrains to propel the gloster SUV in India. Further, transmission duties are most likely to be handled by an 8-speed automatic stick available in both petrol and diesel models. However when it comes to the manual gearbox then it would mostly likely be provided only with the petrol model. As for safety features it would cater to Anti-Lock Braking Systems (ABS) with Electronic Brake-Force Distribution (EBD), lane change assist, front collision warning, front and side airbags for all the 3 rows among others. Upcoming MG Gloster's expected price would be around Rs 35 lakhs (ex-showroom), India.
