MG Gloster launching in India tomorrow, i.e. October 8, 2020, with two diesel engines

MG Gloster launch is tomorrow, i.e. October 8, 2020, after its unveiling at the 2020 Auto Expo earlier this year. MG Gloster would rival the likes of Ford Endeavour, Toyota Fortuner and Mahindra Alturas G4 in the Indian market. It is the fourth model to be introduced in the country from the British manufacturer after Hector, Hector Plus and ZS EV. MG Gloster launch price would be in the bracket of Rs 30-40 Lakhs (ex-showroom, India). The premium SUV will be retailed in four variants - Super, Smart, Sharp and Savvy. As 'Super' is an entry-level model, the 'Savvy' is the top-end trim of the upcoming MG Gloster SUV. Apart from the price, the manufacturer revealed details like engine specifications and features. It will be sold in four colour options- Agate Red, Metal Black, Metal Ash and Warm White. The company opened bookings for the SUV last month at a token amount of Rs 1 Lakh.

Dimension-wise, the Gloster SUV is bigger than its rival and comes with two seating configurations: 6 and 7 seater.  The ‘Sharp’ variant is the only one available with two seating arrangements. MG's flagship model will come with as many as seven riding modes. The key exterior design highlights are dual-barrel chrome exhausts, LED fog lamps and headlamps. The luxury is the byword with the interior boasting of features like a panoramic sunroof, 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, and 8-inch Multi-information Display (MID) system. The premium feel is accentuated by the addition of features like ventilated front seats, tri-zone climate control, LED reading lights, leather dashboard and wireless charging.

MG Gloster biggest talking point is the level 1 autonomous capabilities aided by the advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS). The Safety features onboard with the SUV are six airbags, hill-hold control (HHC), hill descent control (HDC), ABS (anti-lock braking system) + EBD (Electronic Brake-force Distribution System) + BA (brake assist).

The Gloster SUV is arriving here with two diesel powertrains. The Super and Smart models are powered by a 2.0-litre diesel turbocharged engine delivering 161 bhp of power output and 375 Nm of peak torque. On the other hands, the Sharp and Savy trims will house a 2.0-litre twin-turbocharged diesel under the hood. The unit churns out 215 bhp of maximum power output and 480 Nm of peak torque. Transmission duties for both the engines are taken care of by an 8-speed automatic unit with no manual gearbox offered as of now. The manufacturer is offering a Four-wheel-drive (4WD) system as option with the top-end Sharp and Savvy trims.
