Mercedes Benz has finally launched the much anticipated Maybach S-Class at Rs 2.50 crore (ex-showroom) in India. The vehicle is offered in a total of two trim levels namely the locally assembled S580 and the CBU import S680. Having said that, the S680 Maybach costs Rs 3.20 crore (ex-showroom) which further makes it the most expensive Maybach model on sale in India.

Talking about the new Maybach S-Class, it is based on the latest V223 (long-wheelbase) S-Class luxury sedan just like its predecessor. The luxury limousine comes with a wheelbase stretched by a further 180mm. In terms of design, the new model flaunts the signature chrome grille with vertical slats upfront. One can also see Mercedes Maybach branding and the Mercedes Benz logo on the bonnet. In addition, it gets LED headlamps, integrated L-shaped LED DRLs, and chrome detailing on the bumper. On the side, the Maybach S-Class features chrome window line, 20-inch alloy mono-black wheels, and Maybacg logo on the C-pillar. The rear end boasts of wrap-around LED tail lights, Maybach badging & logo on the tailgate, and chrome inserts on the boot-lid & bumper.

The cabin of the new Maybach S-Class is similar to the regular S-Class. However, it does come with options of Maybach-specific leather upholstery and interior trims. The feature highlights include a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, a 12.8-inch fully-digital instrument cluster, Heads-Up Display (HUD), MBUX connectivity, Level 3 autonomy, airbag for the second row passengers, individual climate zones, a panoramic sunroof, rear seat entertainment screens, rear-wheel steering, air suspension, and many others. The rear occupants get additional space due to the longer wheelbase.

“The Mercedes-Maybach S-Class surpasses the pinnacle of excellence with its fine blend of luxury, technology and bespoke character. It is the new definition of luxury for the ever evolving S-Class customers, who are young achievers in their respective fields and expect the best of luxury products and services. In addition to the traditional attributes of luxury, comfort and exclusivity, these customers prefer the S-Class Maybach over other products for its highly intuitive and cutting-edge technology. The new Mercedes-Maybach S-Class is a unique combination of luxury and technology, and we are confident it will exceed customer’s expectations. The launch of the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class underlines our focus on introducing the most desirable products for our Indian customers and exceed the luxury offering introduced by the new S-Class.

The Mercedes-Maybach S-Class is the most advanced and exquisite product we have made in India till date, and it underlines our focus on the growing demand for the high-end segment in our portfolio. This limousine demands the ultimate perfection in automotive workmanship along with the most technologically advanced integration introduced with the new S-Class. Therefore, it is a moment of pride for us to roll out the S580 4MATIC version from our manufacturing facility today. It reiterates the implementation of advanced technology and flexible processes in our manufacturing process,” as commented by Martin Schwenk, Managing Director & CEO, Mercedes-Benz India.

Performance-wise, the Maybach S-Class houses two engines under its hood. The 4.0-litre V8 engine with a 48V mild hybrid system (S 580). This engine churns out a top power of 502 bhp and a peak torque of 700 Nm. The mild hybrid system offers an additional boost of up to 19 bhp and a torque of 200 Nm under hard acceleration. The more powerful 6.0-litre V12 motor in the guise S 680 generates 611 bhp power and 900 Nm peak torque. Transmission duties are taken care of by a 9-speed automatic gearbox with power being sent to all-four wheels.
