The new Maruti Suzuki Ertiga BS6 has been priced at Rs 7.54 lakhs. This is around Rs 10,000 more expensive than the BS4 version of the vehicle.

Maruti Suzuki has officially rolled out the BS6-compliant Ertiga MPV in India. This comes just a few days after the company launched the CNG version of the car in the market. This is the fifth model from the brand to get the BSVI compliant engine after Maruti Suzuki Alto, Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Maruti Suzuki Swift, and Maruti Suzuki WagonR. It should be noted that the Indian Government will enforce the new BS6 norms in the country from 1 April 2020.

The new Maruti Suzuki Ertiga BS6 has been priced at Rs 7.54 lakhs. This is around Rs 10,000 more expensive than the BS4 version of the vehicle. What is significant here is that only the petrol variants of the Ertiga have received the new BS6 compliant updates. As declared earlier, Maruti Suzuki will discontinue all diesel-powered vehicles from its line-up when the BS6 emission norms come into effect in the Indian market.

The new facelifted Ertiga was launched in the Indian market in 2018 and has become the largest-selling 7-seater MPV in the country. It challenges the likes of Mahindra Marazzo in the market. However, when it comes to sales, the Ertiga keeps a big lead over all other MPVs in the country.

The petrol-engine on the new Ertiga is the all-new 1.5-litre unit that was developed in-house by the brand. This K15 Smart Hybrid engine generates a maximum of 103 Bhp power and 138 Nm peak torque. The power and torque figures remain unchanged in the BS-6 version. This engine is available with either a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic transmission. It gets the Mild Hybrid System that helps in increasing the fuel efficiency and makes the vehicle much more frugal. As per the official ARAI figures for the BS4 version, the Ertiga returns a maximum of 19.34 km/l with the manual transmission and 18.69 km/l with the automatic transmission.

The new Ertiga is based on the HEARTECT platform and has grown in size compared to the outgoing model. The second-generation car gets a modern design with blacked-out C-pillar, which adds a floating-type roof effect. It also features a large front grille with a good amount of chrome on it while the rear gets tall tail lamps.

Coming to interiors, Maruti Ertiga offers a dual-tone cabin with a flat-bottom steering wheel. The top variants come with features such as the touchscreen infotainment system, faux wooden inserts on the dashboard, height-adjustable driver seat, automatic climate control, 12V charging ports for every row, reversing camera, rear parking sensors, keyless entry, multiple storage spaces and more. The all-new Ertiga also gets standard features like ABS and EBD as standard across the variants.

Soon Maruti Suzuki will launch the XL6, which is a premium crossover based on the Ertiga. It will get a different front-end design and a different cabin design.
