Massive discount on Audi A3

On the fifth anniversary of launch of its A3 sedan in India, Audi has announced a massive price cut across all the variants of this luxury cars. As we know, this car has reached the end of its life cycle and the company is even going to launch its replacement in the foreign market. To clear stocks of the existing car, Audi India is offering major discounts on the outgoing model. This car is now cheaper by up to Rs. 5 lakhs. Are you thinking of the same thing? This means that after buying an Audi A3, you can go to a nearest Maruti Suzuki showroom and buy a new entry-level hatchback using the discount on the luxury car.

Here is the variant-wise discount on the Audi A3 in India:

Variant                                                                 Old price                                                          New price

A3 35 TFSI Premium Plus                         INR 33,12,000/-                                                    INR 28,99,000/-

A3 35 TFSI Technology                             INR 34,57,000/-                                                    INR 30,99,000/-

A3 35 TDI Premium Plus                          INR 34,93,000/-                                                    INR 29,99,000/-

A3 35 TDI Technology                              INR 36,12,000/-                                                    INR 31,99,000/-

Bear in mind that after getting a mid-life facelift in 2017, Audi A3 came to be known as a car that looked sharper, especially from front, in appearance. In India, another luxury car Mercedes Benz CLA sedan is its primary rival.

A reason behind the immense popularity of Audi A3 in India is that this is German luxury car brand's cheapest offering in our market. Moreover, Audi also provides a cabriolet version of the A3 but at a slightly higher price. As you know, A3 sedan is imported into India through completely knocked down (CKD) route and assembled at the company's factory in Aurangabad. This car comes with two engine options: First, a 1.8-liter turbocharged petrol that produces 148 Bhp power and 250 Nm torque and is paired to a 7-speed twin clutch automatic gearbox and second, a 2-liter turbocharged diesel with 140 Bhp power-320 Nm torque that is also mated to a 7-speed twin clutch automatic gearbox.

A3 is a front-wheel drive car and its diesel variant, with higher torque, is what has become a favorite in India. This car is known for its nimble handling and is especially meant for those looking for a compact sedan for driving in city.

Coming to the new Audi A3, it has been seen testing on roads in Europe. This soon-to-be-launched car will be available in hatchback and sedan body styles. In India, Audi will only launch the sedan version of this car by the end of this year. It has been reported that the new car might get a Plug-In hybrid powertrain and turbo petrol motor. However, a diesel variant that Indians usually prefer is unlikely to be offered, especially after the Dieselgate fiasco involving the Volkswagen group. In a thrust toward emission control, Audi will launch an electric A3 for European markets.
