With the auto industry in India witnessing a slowdown in recent times, only the SUV segment has shown some promise of growth in the short term. However, things in the SUV segment have indeed gotten tough for the largest automaker in India -- Maruti Suzuki. The Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza has been the long standing dominant seller in the segment, but the recent launches like the Mahindra XUV300 and Hyundai Venue will soon start giving the Maruti SUV a tough time in the market.

Therefore, in order to keep the model fresh in the market amid rising rivalry, the brand has launched a limited edition model of their sub-4 meter compact SUV. The brand is calling the new model as the Vitara Brezza Sport. What is good is that the brand is also offering an upgrade to the existing customers. Since the update is nothing but a cosmetic upgrade to the Vitara Brezza, the existing customers can get the Limited Edition look for their Brezza in the form of an add-on kit. The price for the cosmetic upgrade will be Rs. 29,990. This kit can be added at the dealership level and it is available with all variants of the Maruti Brezza. The latest accessory kit for the SUV consists of leather cladding for the steering wheel, garnish for the front grille, dual tone door sill guard, new seat covers and side skid plates.

With this new kit, the brand is trying to offer added customization options to their existing customers and is also aiming to capture new customers with the refreshed looks of the SUV. As far as other changes are concerned the new Brezza Sport comes with no mechanical changes and remains identical to the normal models being offered by the brand. Maruti already offers a range of accessories for the Brezza, and also many customization options under the iCreate program.

Maruti Brezza still comes with the 1.3L diesel engine rated to deliver 89 Bhp and 200 Nm. The transmission duties on the SUV are handled by a 5 speed manual or a 5 speed AMT automatic unit. What is to be noted here is that Maruti offers no petrol option on the Brezza and considering that the brand is going to drop diesel engines post April 2020, the brand will have to launch a petrol model of the SUV to continue selling it in the market. There are hopes that the brand will bring the 1.5L petrol engine rated for 104 Bhp and 138 Nm on the Brezza, this engine is already available on model like the Ciaz and Ertiga in the market. There are reports that the new petrol engine Brezza will also come with mild-hybrid engine, but this remains unconfirmed as of now.
