The company will have a massive stall at the upcoming Auto Expo, which will showcase cars like the all-New Swift Hatchback and the Concept Future S, which previews a new compact SUV by the carmaker. A lot of cars from its international line-up will also be displayed in kitted up forms. The quirky e-Survivor SUV concept will also be on display. First shown at the 2017 Tokyo motor show, the e-Survivor concept is an open-top, two-seat SUV that boasts massive ground clearance and nearly non-existent overhangs. The concept is powered by four electric motors, one in each wheel, and the cabin sports a spherical display which shows the car and its immediate surroundings, using sensors on the car.
The company will also use the show to educate showgoers about hybrid technology. It will feature functioning cutaways of a petrol-electric hybrid powertrain, that show the benefits of these types of engines for our country.
The company only sells mild hybrid cars in India, branded SHVS (Smart Hybrid Vehicle System). More sophisticated hybrid systems will be on display, which means Maruti is looking for a greater level of hybridisation in its future models. The government wants to go all-electric by 2030, and Maruti has tied up with Toshiba to set up a lithium-ion battery plant in Gujarat and the company has also tied up with Toyota to bring more EVs to India by 2020.
