Maruti Suzuki to launch 4 new vehicles in India in 2019.

There are reports on the internet suggesting that Indian largest car maker has stated that the brand will launch at least four new models in the market in 2019. So far, the company has launched a model replacement for the WagonR tall boy hatchback in the Indian market and has gone ahead and updated many other of their existing models in the Indian market so as to make them complaint to the latest safety norms. Apart from these updates, the company also released and all-new more powerful diesel engine in India and so far, models like Ertiga MPV and Ciaz sedan come equipped with the powerful 1.5L diesel engine. However, in the coming months there are hopes that the brand will launch even more models in the Indian market. As already stated the brand is gearing up to launch four new models in the Indian market. Out of these, three will be updates or facelifts of current models already in the market while the fourth one will be an all-new model that will be based on the Future S Concept that the brand had displayed at the 2018 Indian Auto Expo.

The brand had displayed the Future S Concept at the Auto Expo 2018 and had said that the production version of the car will be mainly targeted at the urban youth of India who are in search of a feature loaded compact car. The upcoming car will be a crossover of the hatchback and SUV kind, something similar to what we have seen with the Mahindra KUV100 in the market already. The production model of the Future S will be only offered with a petrol engine as the brand has made its intention about the diesel engines amply clear. There are rumors that this model will act as a replacement for the Alto in the Indian market, but it remains a rumor for now. The brand will likely take the Mahindra approach in classifying the car and will sell it as a micro-SUV that will be placed between models such as WagonR and Swift in the Indian market.

Needless to say the upcoming production version of the Future S Concept will comply with upcoming BNVSAP as well as BS-VI emission norms. Moving on to the next expected launch from the largest carmaker of India, it could be the 7 seater Maruti WagonR. This upcoming model’s launch has been rumored for some time now. The longer version of the tall-boy hatchback will be sold via the premium NEXA chain of dealerships by the brand. The new version of WagonR will not only be larger but it will also carry MPV-ish looks, something that we have already seen on the Datsun GO+ in the Indian market. As far as the mechanicals of the upcoming larger WagonR are concerned, it will likely be powered by the 1.2L engine that is available with the WagonR already and produces an output of 82 Bhp-113 Nm. The transmission options are also expected to remain the same. The new version will also come badged with a prefix to distinguish it from the normal WagonR in the market.

As far as the other launches of the brand for this year are concerned, the third could be the petrol model of the sub-4 meter compact SUV Vitara Brezza. Although Vitara Brezza has been the undisputed king of the segment so far, the future plans of the company have no diesels in mind and the Brezza so far only comes with a diesel engine. The petrol model of the sub-4 meter compact SUV will also be a mild-hybrid model. The last and final expected launch of the brand could be the upmarket 6 seater version of Ertiga MPV that will take on the Marazzo in the Indian market. While the new upmarket Ertiga MPV could have a butch outer appearance with a lot of cladding, the insides will be more upmarket.
