Maruti commences the production of S-Presso CNG variant at its facility; likely to launch soon in the country.

Maruti Suzuki has recently resumed operations at its Manesar facility in the strict adherence to the guidelines issued by the authorities. With the commencement of its manufacturing operations, the company has also begun the production of S-Presso CNG variants at its facility. It is likely to reach the showrooms across the country soon. In the past, Maruti has launched the CNG variants of other models like the Alto and Wagon R to compensate for the discontinuation of diesel engine options from its entire line-up. The company is also likely to offer CNG options to other models in the near future.

Maruti showcased the S-Presso CNG variant at the Auto Expo 2020. The hatchback is priced in the range of Rs 3.7 lakhs - Rs 4.99 lakhs (ex-showroom).Maruti S-Presso CNG is likely to be offered in four trims namely Standard, LXi, VXi and VXi+. The AMT transmission will only be made available in the VXi variant. The hatchback is likely to retain the design from its petrol-powered model. The design highlight include conventional headlamps with LED DRLs placed on the bumpers, vertical front grille, and black coloured body cladding. On the sides, it gets 14-inch alloy wheels with flared wheel arches while the rear end features LED tail lights.

The interior of the S-Presso CNG would boasts of a dual-tone seat fabric along with coloured accents. Other highlighted features will include a 7-inch SmartPlay Studio touchscreen infotainment system and a centrally-mounted digital instrument cluster among others.In terms of safety, the hatchback would come equipped with airbags, ABS with EBD, pedestrain safety, reverse parking sensors, seat-belt reminder, and high-speed warning.

The upcoming Maruti S-Presso CNG is expected to be powered by a BS6 compliant 1.0-litre petrol engine that would churn out 67 bhp power and 90 Nm torque. It will comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox along with an automatic transmission unit as an option.
