The company has crossed the milestone after 34 years and 5 months.

India is now the second country after Japan where Suzuki has reached this milestone. India is currently the fastest country to reach the 20 million units mark – the company took just 34 years and 5 months, while it took 45 years and 9 months in Japan.

Production is carried out at the Gurgaon and Manesar plants owned by Maruti Suzuki, and Suzuki's plant, at Gujarat. These plants produce 16 models including the Dzire, Baleno, Alto, Swift, Wagon R, and Vitara Brezza. In FY2017, approximately 1.78 million units were produced in India for both local sale and export.
