Maruti Suzuki, the country's largest automaker, has extended the primary warranty, extended warranty and periodic free and PMS services of its cars in the Indian market. The extension would be applicable to the free service cover and warranty period expiring between March 15, 2021 to May 31, 2021. These have been extended up to June 30, 2021. Currently, India is battling with the second wave of the deadly COVID-19 and various state governments have imposed a strict lockdown, due to which dealerships and service centres are closed.
Mr. Partho Banerjee, Senior Executive Director (Service), Maruti Suzuki India said, “With customer convenience at the core of initiatives, we have decided to extend the free services, warranty and extended warranty for our customers till June 30th 2021. Earlier, these were expiring between March15th and May 31st, 2021. Since customers in several States are facing restricted movement, this extension will give them relief. They can avail these services at their convenience, as lockdown eases.” Recently, Maruti's peers such as Tata Motors and Toyota too announced the extension in free service and warranty period on all its cars and SUVs, thereby providing an interim relief to the customers.
Maruti Suzuki has already stopped production at its facilities in Manesar and Gurgaon. The company has said that manufacturing of cars and SUVs will not commence before May 16, 2021. Meanwhile, in other news, Maruti's next big ticket launch in the Indian market is going to be the new-gen Celerio hatchback. It was originally planned for a late 2020 launch but it had to be delayed multiple times due to the ongoing COVID crisis. Now, it has been learnt that the 2021 Maruti Celerio will be launched in the coming couple of months. After that, Maruti is finally said to be bringing the 5-door version of the Jimny to the Indian shores. We can expect the Jimny launch in India in early 2022.
