The November 2024-launched 4th Generation Maruti Suzuki Dzire has become the first sedan in India to receive a 5-star safety rating from the Bharat NCAP. The 5-star rating applies to all variants of the latest Dzire.
The Dzire has also secured a 5-star rating in the Global NCAP (GNCAP) crash tests in November 2024. This milestone will help Maruti Suzuki to counter the narrative of safety compromises in their cars.
This car competes in the highly competitive sub-4 meter sedans in the Indian market. It rivals with Hyundai Aura, Tata Tigor, and Honda Amaze.
The 4th-gen Maruti Suzuki Dzire has set a new benchmark by becoming the first sedan in India to achieve a 5-star safety rating from BNCAP. This is also significant because this is the only Maruti Suzuki car to date that holds a 5-star rating from both Global NCAP (GNCAP) and Bharat NCAP.
The Dzire's strong structural integrity (Heartect platform) plus a suite of active and passive safety features contributed to this performance. The standardized 6 airbags played a crucial role, particularly in side impact scenarios. Here's a breakdown of its performance in the BNCAP tests:
Adult Occupant Protection (AOP)
Rating: 5 Stars
Score: 29.46 points out of a maximum of 32.00
Frontal Offset Deformable Barrier Test (Score: 14.17/16.00)

Side Movable Deformable Barrier Test (Score: 15.29/16.00)
Driver: Head, abdomen, and pelvis protection were "good," with chest protection rated "adequate."
Side Pole Impact Test: The car offered "good" protection to the occupants.
Bodyshell Integrity: Rated as stable, capable of withstanding further loads.
Child Occupant Protection (COP)

Dynamic Test Score: 23.57 out of 24.00 (excellent performance here).

Protection for Child Dummies: In both frontal and side impact tests, the child restraint systems (for an 18-month-old rearward-facing and a 3-year-old forward-facing dummy) provided robust protection, preventing head exposure in the crashes.
