Maruti Suzuki has unveiled the petrol-powered hybrid version of S-Cross crossover at the Auto Expo 2020. It is learnt that the company will officially launch it next month in the Indian market. Maruti Suzuki has made it clear that it will pull the plug on the diesel variants before April 1, 2020 and retail only petrol-hybrid variants with BS 6 engine. Maruti S-Cross takes on the likes of Renault Duster, Nissan Terrano and Honda BR-V in the Indian market.
Maruti Suzuki has refrained from carrying out cosmetic changes with the S-Cross as it largely looks similar to the diesel variants which are on sale currently, except for the badges at the rear. It has equipped the crossover with the BS6 compliant 1.5L 4-cylinder K15B petrol powerplant. The engine returns top power and peak torque of 103bhp and 138Nm, respectively. The engine is also linked with Suzuki's SHVS mild hybrid system which comprises of a couple of batteries and an integrated starter generator. The transmission options on offer are a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed automatic unit.
Maruti Suzuki is showcasing a total of 17 vehicles at the biennial event which includes the Suzuki Jimny and Swift hybrid as well. The Futuro-e SUV Coupe Concept has also debuted at Auto Expo 2020.
