Maruti S-Cross will be the last company model to get BS6 compliant engine.

Maruti Suzuki has announced the launch BS6 S-Cross petrol on July 29, 2020 in the Indian market. It will be the last company model to get a BS6 compliant engine as all the other Maruti cars are already updated. Being showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo, Maruti S-Cross BS6 petrol was originally scheduled to launch a couple of months back in April but it was pushed back to July due to the nationwide lockdown. Maruti S-Cross petrol price is expected to start at Rs 8 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom), while it will directly rival Renault Duster (Rs 8.49-10 Lakhs) in India.

The S-Cross petrol BS6 will not have any cosmetic changes at the outside and inside the cabin. The crossover will continue with the same design and features. It was last updated in 2017 and now the company intends to replace it altogether in the next couple of years with an all-new SUV based on the Futuro-e Concept, which debuted at the 2020 Auto Expo. Maruti S-Cross diesel BS4 was priced in a range of Rs 8.81-11.44 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom, Delhi) but the petrol range is expected to cost a little low. The S-Cross BS6 petrol is expected to be offered in four trim levels: Sigma, Delta, Zeta and Alpha. It will be continued to be sold via the NEXA premium range of dealerships.

Under the bonnet, Maruti S-Cross BS6 petrol will have the 1.5L 4-cylinder K15B engine which we have already seen with Ciaz and Vitara Brezza. It generates maximum power output of 105bhp and peak torque performance of 138Nm. The engine will be linked to a 5-speed manual transmission as standard while a 4-speed torque converter automatic gearbox will be available as option. The auto gearbox option will be available with all the grades except the entry-level Sigma trim. On the other hand, the automatic variants will also come with Maruti's mild-hybrid technology. The company has, for once and all, discontinued its most tried and trusted 1.3L DDiS diesel engine and it seems highly unlikely if it will make a comeback ever!
