The third-gen Dzire is available in eight variants; two engines on offer with optional AMT.

The new Dzire sees significant changes to its styling, both on the inside and out. There’s more equipment than before too. Prices start at ₹5.45 lakh for the base LXi petrol variant and go up to ₹9.41 lakh for the top-spec ZDi+ diesel AMT trim. The new Dzire is available in eight variants with two powertrain options.

The new car shares its underpinnings with the new Swift, which is yet to launch in India, and the Baleno. The new ‘Heartect’ platform features the use of high tensile steel to keep the weight down for better performance. The car shares common styling elements with the all-new Swift hatchback, though there are notable styling tweaks to give Dzire its own identity. The bonnet, headlamps and front fenders are common to the hatch. The bumper is noticeably different though. The grille is huge and gets a lot of chrome bits on the higher trims. The cabin also shares common elements with the hatch - the dashboard and seats. The centre console and instrument cluster have been tweaked with a bigger focus on feeling premium. The car continues to feature a dual-tone interior, along with faux-wood inserts on the steering wheel and across the cabin.

The new Dzire comes with dual airbags, ABS and Isofix child seat anchor points as standard across the range, which is a welcome move by the carmaker. Top variants additionally get kit such as Maruti's SmartPlay infotainment system with navigation and Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, auto climate control and LED projector headlamps.

The new Dzire will carry forward the same set of engines as its predecessor. This includes the 83hp, 1.2-litre K-series petrol motor and the tried and tested 75hp, 1.3-litre DDiS diesel engine. Both units are paired with a five-speed manual gearbox as standard; there’s an AMT gearbox as an option too. It is available in eight variants, including a new top-spec Z+ variant. All but the base L trim come with the choice of a manual or AMT gearbox. The third-generation car carries no 'Swift' branding - the company feels that the 'Dzire' brand has its own brand value now and does not need to rely on the Swift badge.
