Mahindra XUV300 gets massive response from Indian market, gets 26,000 bookings and claims second spot in sales chart.

Mahindra launched the XUV300 sub-4-meter compact SUV in February and now the company has announced that the recently launched feature packed SUV of the brand has got 26,000 bookings in India. The SUV already saw quick success at the time of launch when it managed to reach the second spot on the sales chart in the segment in the month of its launch. The XUV300 nudged past Tata Nexon and the Ford EcoSport in the segment to claim the second spot in sales. Mahindra XUV300 locks horns with Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon, Ford EcoSport, Honda WR-V and the upcoming Hyundai Venue in the sub-4-meter compact SUV segment.

The chief of sales and marketing of the automotive division at Mahindra & Mahindra Limited, Veejay Ram Nakra spoke on the occasion and stated,

We are thrilled with the XUV300 receiving over 26,000 bookings in just over two months since its launch. Consumers are finding the XUV300 to be an exciting and comprehensive package that offers thrilling performance, first-in-segment safety features and head-turning design, which is reflected in these impressive booking numbers. It is also encouraging to see that a substantial number of bookings are for the petrol variant. As a customer centric organization, we are constantly working to keep the waiting period at a minimum and to get our customers their XUV300s as soon as possible. I am sure that the XUV300 brand will grow from strength to strength in the years to come.

Apart from the staggering amount of bookings that the SUV has got, what is to be noted is that more than two-thirds of the bookings of the SUV have been for the top models of XUV300. This is yet another piece in the shifting trend of customer demand in India. This hints that the customers are getting more and more conscious about the features and the investment in a car. Talking of the XUV300, the sub-4-meter compact SUV is based on SsangYong Tivoli’s X100 platform. The company has worked on the platform to keep the SUV under 4 meters in length.

Mahindra XUV300 is offered in the market with 2 engine options, one is the 1.2L 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol unit that is rated to deliver 112 Bhp and 200 Nm, while the other is a 1.5L 4-cylinder turbocharged diesel unit rated to deliver 121 Bhp-300 Nm. The torque output of the diesel engine is the largest in the segment. The engine options comes paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox, with an automatic option slated for the future. The company is currently working on a 6 speed AMT unit that will be offered with both diesel and petrol options in the future.
