eXUV300 expected to arrive by mid-2021 in India, to compete against Tata Nexon EV.

Electric vehicles are not a novelty anymore, it’s becoming an affordable mode of transportation for Indian consumers. Indian automakers are not shying away from adopting electric vehicles in their business strategy anymore. Recent Auto Expo 2020 played host to numerous launches and unveilings but one particular model caught our attention. Mahindra & Mahindra unveiled XUV300 Electric as a Concept during the biennial Auto Show. XUV300 is one of Mahindra’s most popular and also the safest compact SUV's in the country. The pure electric version of XUV300 would compete against the Tata Nexon EV in the Indian market. Based on recent images, eXUV300 would differ from the XUV 300 in aspects of design. The eXUV300 would be based on the MESMA 350 (Mahindra Electric Scalable and Modular Architecture 350). The automaker claims that the electic SUV can travel more than 350 Kms on a full charge. As of now, no information is available on its power output.

While we await for the launch of Mahindra eXUV300, an automotive design firm from Pune has envisioned the eXUV300 in a coupe avatar. INITIA Designs has come up with this sketch. Mahindra XUV500 Aero Concept showcased at 2016 Auto Expo is believed to have served as an inspiration for this stunning design. In India, SUV/crossover coupe models are available but are in the Rs 20 lakhs and above price bracket. With rising consumer demand for SUV/crossover coupe models, we can expect automakers to launch such models in the near future.

Going back to the INITIA design concept, Mahindra eXUV300 SUV Coupe looks a class apart. Mahindra styling elements are not just present but made better on the whole. Key styling highlights are the panoramic roof, extended fenders, lighting clusters, five-spoke multi-strand wheels and a grooved bonnet. The imagined SUV Coupe comes in the metallic shade with subtle blue accents.

Mahindra & Mahindra e2o+ was the first proper EV offering from the Indian automaker. Mahindra eXUV 300 is expected to arrive in the Indian market by mid-2021. It is expected to be priced between Rs 12 lakhs - Rs 15 lakhs (ex-showroom), India.  While Mahindra eKUV100 is expected to arrive in the market later this year and will be priced around Rs 9 lakhs (ex-showroom), India.
