The Mahindra XUV300 has been launched today with an attractive price range considering the amount of features offered in this compact SUV. However, the Indian carmaker hasn't introduced any automatic transmission option with this baby Cheetah at the time of the launch. This was a bit of a disappointment for many as the demand for automatic is rising.
Mahindra has announced during the launch that they will be introducing the AMT version of the XUV300 next month. As of now, it is available with a 6-speed manual transmission only. Magneti Marelli sourced AMT unit will be fitted in the XUV300 as well as the Marazzo very soon. However, the AMT gearbox option will be available with the XUV300 until April 2020.
The Indian carmaker will be introducing conventional torque converter automatic after the BS6 emission norms get implemented in India next year onwards. XUV300's key rival, Maruti Vitara Brezza is offered with AMT and to compete with that, Mahindra is ready with its AMT as well. The XUV300 also competes with the Ford EcoSport and Tata Nexon.
