Mahindra Thar waiting period extended up to 10 months in select cities

Mahindra & Mahindra has announced that the All-New Mahindra Thar has received over 39,000 bookings since its launch on October 2, 2020. The off roader has bagged over 6000 bookings in the month of January this year. Besides these, the company also revealed that about 45 percent of the bookings were made for the automatic variants of the Thar. They have been getting around 200-250 bookings for the SUV on a daily basis across the country. In some of the cities, the waiting period has extended up to 10 months. However, the waiting period is expected to come down for the customers who booked their vehicle earlier. If we talk about the month of January, over 3100 units of the off roader were dispatched to the dealers.

At present, the New Mahindra Thar is offered in three roof-top configurations - fixed soft-top, soft-top convertible, and fixed hard-top. Apart from this, Mahindra is likely to offer an additional option for roof-top in the form of a convertible hard-top. The SUV was earlier offered in two trims - AX and LX. But then the company discontinued the base AX variant in the market. At present, only the top-end LX variant is on sale in the country. As for the price, it starts from Rs 12.49 lakhs (ex-showroom).

Under the bonnet, the 2020 Mahindra Thar is offered with two engine options. A 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine that churns out 150 bhp power and 350 Nm peak torque. While the 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine delivers 130 bhp power and 320 Nm peak torque. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic gearbox. The off-roader has also received a 4-Star Safety Rating from Global NCAP.
