Mahindra Funster EV Concept previews a high-performance electric SUV, which is also dubbed as the next-gen XUV 500.

Mahindra & Mahindra has unveiled the all-new Funster Concept at the 2020 Auto Expo. The company had been saying it from the past few days that it will take the wraps of a new futuristic concept at the biennial event and today it was confirmed after the debut of Funster. It will preview a SUV model for the brand which, in all likelihood, will be the next-gen Mahindra XUV 500. It could be launched by the end of this year in the Indian market.

Mahindra Funster's styling will debut the company's new design language with a square shaped front fascia, reminiscent of the Mahindra XUV300. It flaunts a new rugged bumper at the front while the side profile boasts of strong creases. The Concept however features a 5-seater layout but the production-ready version will certainly be a 7-seater vehicle just like the current model. For those asking, Mahindra is also showcasing production-ready eKUV100 and Atom quadricycle, pre-production eXUV300 and an all-new electric sedan which will be based on the Ford Aspire. In addition, new Mahindra Scorpio is also revealed at the event.

Mechanically, Mahindra Funster Concept comprises of four electric motors with one at each wheel. The total power output from these motors is 313bhp while it touches the 100kmph speed mark from standstill in just under 5 seconds of time. All the electric motors draw power from a 60kWh battery pack. The home-grown automaker is unraveling its idea of presenting a high-performance electric SUV in the near future with the Funster EV Concept.
