Mahindra and Mahindra's forthcoming five-door Thar SUV has been spotted testing again on Indian roads. The five-door SUV is likely to be launched next year. The images shared on social media of the test mule have disclosed a few details and features about the new Thar. Upon its launch, the new Thar will compete with SUVs like the Maruti Suzuki Jimny.

In the footage that was posted on social media, the Mahindra five-door Thar test mule can be seen with projector LED headlights positioned on both sides of a revised grille. The fog lights located on the bumper are halogen units. The SUV is expected to have square-shaped LED taillight units at the rear and a slightly tweaked bumper. The five-door SUV will also come with an electric sunroof. The spy shots revealed earlier hinted that the sunroof on the SUV would be a single-pane unit.

The five-door Thar will come with various interior changes. It is likely to get the same eight-inch digital touchscreen infotainment system that is available in the Scorpio-N SUV. The Mahindra Thar is expected to come with new features like dual-zone climate control and wireless phone charging. Apart from this, it will get regular features like roof-mounted speakers, wireless connectivity, a digital driver display, steering-mounted controls, and more. The five-door Thar could also get safety features such as parking sensors, tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), six airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), and more.

The five-door Thar is likely to be powered by the same 2.2-litre diesel and 2.0-litre petrol engines. The 2.2-litre mHawk 130 CRDe diesel churns out 130 bhp of power and 300 Nm of peak torque, while the 2.0-litre mStallion 150 TGDi petrol can produce 320 Nm of torque and 150 bhp of peak power. Both engines are expected to come paired with a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox. Mahindra is anticipated to provide rear-wheel drive and a 4WD system for the five-door Thar.
