Mahindra Alturas BS6 Launched at Rs 28.69 Lakhs

Mahindra & Mahindra has launched the BS6 Alturas SUV at a sticker price of Rs 28.69 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom) in the Indian market. It has been offered in two trim levels: 2WD and 4WD. The BS6 compliant model is nearly Rs 1 Lakh expensive than the BS4 iteration. The company had also launched the BS6 compliant version of its two SUVs - Scorpio and XUV500 - earlier today. The BS6 Mahindra Alturas will take on the likes of BS6 Ford Endeavour and BS6 Toyota Fortuner while Isuzu is yet to update the MU-X with a BS6 compliant engine.

Starting with features, identical to the outgoing BS4 model, Mahindra Alturas BS6 is equipped with Nappa leather upholstery, power adjustable driver's seat, ventilated front seats, dual-zone climate control system, heated wing mirrors, tyre pressure monitor, front and rear parking sensors, rear view camera and an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with cruise control function as standard. The 4WD variant gets a few more bells and whistles in the form of 360-degree camera, memory function for driver’s seat, powered tailgate, sunroof, ambient lighting etc. to name a few. The standard safety feature list comprises of dual front airbags, ABS, ESP, traction control, hill-start assist, hill-descent control and rollover mitigation while the 4WD variant gets 9-airbags as additional feature.

Under the hood, Mahindra Alturas has a BS6 compliant 2.2L 4-cylinder diesel engine which generates top power of 181bhp and peak torque of 420Nm. The engine is linked to a 7-speed automatic transmission while the SUV gets both the rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive systems. Our friends at AutoCar India have come up with an interesting stats that the BS6 compliant model of Alturas SUV delivers more mileage as compared to the BS4 model. The BS6 model returns an ARAI certified fuel efficiency of 12.03kmpl over the outgoing model's 11.50kmpl, which is an increase of 0.53kmpl. We expect the deliveries of the new SUV starting in a few days at all the Mahindra dealerships across the country.
